The 'thing' with poetry

If anybody realize in my blog i post a few poems in which personally i think touches my heart and many wouldn't have known that i' m not exactly the 'poetry' type of person.I prefer to express my feelings in a direct way but i don't hate poetry. Its just that i had some bad experiences with my lecturers when i learned poetry. What i understand from studying poetry is what we perceive, understand and analyse about poems are our own personal interpretation and it should be accepted as part of the learning process.Although i find it difficult at first to understand poetry bcoz of the style of language, but nonetheless it was interesting & unique in its own way. Most importantly, the poets wrote their poems based on no rules & they wrote what they were feeling & thinking about. But my so-called qualified lecturers especially this particular lecturer(a woman) did not seem to share the same idea of understanding poetry, she limit & restricted the scope of students' understanding & analysing of poetry. It seems that she only wants her accepted interpretation & thats wrong. At least she should have the courtesy to discuss & state what she wants in the so-called 'right' interpretation.Instead she cause a disaster in which it has affect my life in a certain way.So i had this perception of poetry is a waste of time. However, reading back all the excellent & talented poems in literature,i can't help the fact that poerty is indeed a beautiful art of language & i should appreciate it as a student of English literature. The movie 'A Love Song for Bobby Long' contains beautiful poems from Robert Frost & T.S Elliot, and it have inspired me to connect myself again with poetry.I'm so glad & happy that i'm able to appreciate poetry although it takes time for me to understand it(its been awhile since i studied poetry).Nonetheless, the few poems i have chosen to post in my blog are a good start for me to indulge myself more deeply into poetry.Who knows, i might write my own poems one day.
